Makeup Starter Kit For Beginners

When I look back at the time and my experience with makeup, I am reminded of a time when I was miserable at doing makeup probably because there were so many products available in the market with different texture and formulas. All those makeup overwhelmed me a lot. I started with makeup when I was 14/15 years old. A girl in her teens is more attracted towards her appearance and makeup being the most important of all. But starting up with makeup at this early age can be very confusing and girls can end up ruining their skin. So it's very important to know what exactly are the things to start up with and not to go extra.
When I was young, I was confused too, but thanks to the YouTubers who enlightened me with their knowledge of makeup. I spent tons of hours watching multiple videos related to skin and makeup, what to do and what not to. It took me almost six years to come to this point of life where I can advise people about makeup. I am still not a professional as makeup is a field where you can never say I have learned enough.

Below listed products are the products that you need to start your makeup journey:

1>PRIMER

To be very honest when I started with makeup, I never used primer unless I found the importance of this magical product. As for painting, it's very important to have a blank canvas so as your face and primer helps you to achieve that blank and fresh canvas. 

But if you have flawless skin, you can totally skip this step. And if you want to apply it, its also important to know your skin type before purchasing a primer. Every skin type needs a different primer. For oily skin or the one with large pores, opt for blurring effect primer, for dry skin, opt for hydrating primer and normal skin type can opt for any primer.

Here I have shown NY BASE PRIMER and SIVANNA COLORS WATER-BASE PRIMER. The NY BASE PRIMER can be used by any skin type and the SIVANNA COLORS WATER-BASE PRIMER is best for dry skin people.

2>FOUNDATION/ bb cream/ cc cream

I can not stress enough how important a foundation is to get flawless looking skin. But the foundation is not made for everyday purpose. If you still want that flawless looking skin and a little bit color on your face, you can definitely use a BB cream or a CC cream. BB/CC cream is just like a regular face cream with a little tint of color that will give you a bit of coverage. It also has skin benefits. For the special events, I suggest to skip the BB/CC cream and go for a foundation. It will give you more coverage to hide any kind of imperfections on your face. Again there are various types of foundation available in the market, so choose the foundation type that suits your skin type. If you have dry skin, try to choose a liquid base foundation, for the oily skin type, use a matte foundation.

Here I have shown the LAKME 9 TO 5 CC COMPLEXION CARE CREAM, CHAMBOR EXTREME MATTE LONG WEAR FOUNDATION and LAKME 9 TO 5 WEIGHTLESS MOUSSE FOUNDATION. The CC cream is for everyday use. The CHAMBOR FOUNDATION is for special events and is very good for oily skin. The MOUSSE FOUNDATION can also be used in every day. If you have dry skin and want to use the MOUSSE FOUNDATION, then just mix it with some cream and apply it as it can make your skin little dry.

3>makeup brush and sponge

Now to apply the foundation you need makeup brushes or makeup sponge. To be honest, I used my hands👐 at the beginning but hands can never give you the flawless look that you want. So its always better to invest in some good makeup brushes and sponge.

This brush set and sponge are from Amazon. I got it for a really good deal so I got them. And believe me or not, this brush set is all you need for your makeup. It has every kind of brushes you need, to apply foundation, blush, powder, eye shadow, highlighter everything.

4>FACE POWDER/compact powder and contour

Good face powder is very crucial as it is the only product that helps to keep your base intact. In a hot summer day, compact can be your best friend if you want your makeup to last the full day.

Contour is not needed for a beginner I would say but if you want a well-defined jaw, nose and a sculpted face then you can obviously use a contour to do so. Be careful while contouring, don't overdo it then you will end up looking like a skeleton.😂 

Here I have shown WET N WILD CONTOURING PALETTE CONTOUR and MENOW.PRO CONTOUR CREAM SERIES. Both of these products are multipurpose. The WET N WILD has both face powder and contour powder. The MENOW.PRO one is a cream contour palette and has every kind of concealer and contour shades.

5>highlighter

Highlighter is the only product which gives the illusion that we have a naturally bright and glowy face. Let's admit all of us don't have naturally glowy skin so a highlighter does the job perfectly.

Be careful while putting highlighter, don't put too much of it then you will look like a disco ball. Be subtle. And ya get a highlighter that suits your skin tone so that it looks natural and not over the top.

I have shown the LAKME FACE SHEER HIGHLIGHTER and INCOLOR BAKING HIGHLIGHTER. The LAKME one is a powder highlighter and the INCOLOR one is a backing highlighter. The INCOLOR one is one of the best and cheapest highlighters in the market.

6>EYESHADOW PALETTE

An eyeshadow palette is a must-have in everyone's makeup bag. And for a beginner, I suggest opting for a neutral shade palette. The neutral earthy tones go with every outfit. If you want a pop of color on your eyes, you can, of course, put bright blue or pink eyeshadow for a fun look. Playing with different eye looks was my favorite pass time in teenage days.

The MAYBELLINE one is the perfect neutral eyeshadow palette for everyday use and the REVLON one has more fun colors, not only that it has a highlighter, a contour shade, four blush shades, and lipsticks too. So its an all in one product.

7>brow pencil

Almost every one of us does not give enough attention to our brows. If you have amazing makeup on and your brows look shabby, it's not a good look.😓 So do your brows every time you step out of the door.

My favorite is this HUDA BEAUTY EYEBROW PENCIL, its perfect. The next one I didn't remember which brand it is from.😐

8> EYELINER/ kajal

Eyeliner and Kajal are the very first thing every girl buy I believe. It can change the whole eye look in a minute. Everyone wants that Egyptian looking long and beautiful eyes well you can get that look with just a liner and a kajal. Also, put the liner in a systematic way otherwise you will end up looking like a panda. Start by applying the liner in the middle of the eye and lightly dot it onto the lash line, gradually working your way to the outer part of the eye to get the perfect winged liner look.

9> Mascara

This one is my favorite part of makeup, non-other than mascara. This one probably goes without saying, but you need a good mascara in your life. This only product changes the overall look to a whole new level. Just dip your mascara wand and apply two to three coats to the lashes and see how it brings life to your eyes. Nowadays mascaras are found in all colors but for a beginner, black mascara is a must-have. I personally do not step out of the house without putting mascara even when I have nothing on my eyes. It just makes you look fresh even if you have spent the whole night playing PubG😂.

My all-time favorite is these two mascara by MAYBELLINE NEW YORK, one is washable one and the other is waterproof. You can opt for any one of this, both help to lengthen and volumize the lashes.

10>A red and a nude lipstick

The best part of makeup has come.💖 Lipstick is not only my obsession but every girl's obsession. It can change the entire look in a single swipe. It helps to express our mood too.

You need only two lipstick in your life to start: one is a nude color and the other is non-other than red.

Be smart while choosing a nude shade for your skin tone. My personal advice is to choose a nude shade that is slightly darker than your natural lip color so that it doesn't wash you out completely. Every skin tone needs a different nude color. As far red is concerned, you can go wild with this shade and experiment.

11>makeup removal

I promise this is the last step but the most important step of all. We all forget to remove our makeup after a long day but I can not even describe in words how necessary this step is to help your skin breath. Never sleep with a full face of makeup, it's the worst you are doing for your skin. If you don't want to wake up with a face full of pimples then do not skip this step. Washing the face with a facewash is not enough to remove every makeup so just invest in good makeup remover.

This one is the GARNIER SKIN NATURALS MICELLAR OIL-INFUSED CLEANING WATER. This is one of the best makeup removers, it also removes the waterproof makeup in no time.
