Hair is your best accessory. Who doesn't want beautiful, lustrous full hair? But achieving lustrous hair is not an easy task. When we think about the sun and its adverse effect on our body, the first thing that comes in our mind is our skin. But have we ever concentrated on the fact that harsh UV radiations affect our hair?
Have you ever felt like your hair becoming dry, brittle and frizzy? Or have you noticed your hair becoming weak and fragile? Have you ever thought the reason behind all these? Well, the answer is sun and your negligence towards your hair.

  • Avoid carrying your hair open- We all enjoy wearing our hair down. This may look beautiful but is not at all practical in the summertime. Your hair gets vulnerable to dirt, dust, and sweat which ultimately leads to the greasy scalp by clogging pores.
Try to put your hair in a nice bun or a braid before stepping out of the door. There are so many hairstyles that you can try this summer. You not only look put together, but your hair gets protected too.

  • START THE SUMMER SEASON WITH A FRESH HAIR CUT- Its always a good idea to start this season with a new haircut. The summer weather can make the ends of the hair dry and brittle- that is obviously not a pretty look!
So, just go to the salon and get a hair cut to keep your hair looking good throughout the season.

  • PUT ON A HAT/BANDANA WHEN YOU LEAVE FOR A VACATION- A hat/bandana will always be the simplest technique to protect the hair from the harmful rays. Not only it protects the hair, but it also gives your outfit a whole new look.

  • WET YOUR HAIR BEFORE GOING SWIMMING- We all love to swim in this scorching weather. But do we really think about our hair before jumping to the water? Some of us like to put sunscreen on our body to protect it leaving our hair as it is. Girl, you need to understand the hair should be treated like your skin. Always wet your hair and put some sort of oil(preferably coconut oil) before jumping in. This will protect the hair from the chlorine and the salt present in the water.

You may not know but when our dry hair comes in contact with the water, it immediately absorbs the salt and other chemicals present inside the water which can be very harsh for your hair and can cause severe hair fall. Wet hair or hair with oil acts as a protective layer preventing your hair from coming in contact with these chemicals.

  • THOROUGHLY WASH HAIR WITH A MILD SHAMPOO- After you are done with your swimming, make sure to wash your hair with shampoo(preferably a mild shampoo). Most of us just take a shower without shampooing. What this does is that the salt or chemicals from the pool/ocean stay in our scalp leading to dandruff and severe hair fall.

  • USE CONDITIONER- If your hair is already damaged, dry and brittle, you can restore the moisture using a nice quality conditioner. Get a good conditioner that suits your hair type and texture.

  • AVOID USING HOT TOOLS- As your hair is already exposed to the heat of the sun, avoid hot tools like blow dryers, flat irons, curler. Let your hair breath and try to air-dry your hair as much as possible.
Even if you need to style your hair for some special occasions, definitely use a heat protectant before using any kind of hot tools. Also, there are so many alternatives to get natural curls/ straight hairs without using hot tools.

  • AVOID SLEEPING WITH OPEN HAIR- Sleeping with the hair open is really a bad habit. Your hair will break and become fragile with time.
**Try to use a silk pillow instead of a cotton pillow to avoid friction.

  • USE DRY SHAMPOO- Sweating is a natural tendency in summer. Instead of washing your hair every day, try making dry shampoo your best friend. It will soak all the excess oil keeping your scalp dry. It will save a lot of time. Also will keep your hair healthy.
